Paradisus is a small Pentecostal congregation affiliated with the Church of God. Our faith is centered on Jesus Christ, God’s Word, prayer, and the work of the Holy Spirit.

Our story
A small beginning.
A faithful journey.
In a little church in Hanover, people once stood on the front porch to worship because there wasn’t enough room inside. That growing congregation eventually found a home here in Thomasville.
Our story reaches back even further, to Richard and Joan Chronister’s outreach ministry in 1979. It’s a story of prayer, a call to serve, and a family’s continuing commitment to God.
Meet our pastor & his wife
Richard & Joan Chronister
Before becoming a pastor, Richard taught Bible study, led worship at York Revival Center, and held monthly services at York County Prison.
Richard and Joan began Outreach for Christ Ministry together in 1979. Richard answered the call to pastor in 1987, and their family continues to serve at Paradisus with faithfulness and a love for sharing the Gospel.

Outreach has been part of Richard and Joan’s ministry since 1979. What began as a prison ministry with just seven names on a mailing list grew to reach people across the United States.
The Power & Praise Magazine continues that work today through a quarterly mailing. At one point, the mailing list grew to more than 700 recipients—a long journey from those first seven names.

What we believe
Centered on Jesus.
Grounded in God’s Word.
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, in salvation through Jesus Christ, and in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. Our faith calls us to prayer, holy living, and sharing the Gospel.
Paradisus is affiliated with the Church of God, headquartered in Cleveland, Tennessee. Its Declaration of Faith explains the beliefs we share, including baptism in the Holy Spirit, divine healing, and the return of Jesus Christ.
